Our Story

Fresh flowers, locally grown

True to our roots, family-farmed, seasonal cut flowers

We are Curt and Tara Bedei - the founders and farmers behind Grey Barn Gardens.

As of 2022, we are going into our second year of cut flower farming. Both of us love gardening and enjoy planting something small and watching it bloom. For years, Curt has grown chemical-free produce to sell at local farmer’s market and area restaurants. That passion has grown (pun intended) into producing beautiful, locally grown flowers.

Our flowers are grown in two locations - a small plot in Streator, Illinois and the family farm in Grand Ridge, IL. We grow cut flowers seasonally; weather cooperating from June to October. We offer several colors and varieties. Our goal is to get you unique, field fresh, fragrant flowers. We hand-plant each of the flowers we grow and curate our collection to create an unforgettable experience for you.

Both of us grew up in the area, and graduated from Streator Township High School. We were married in 2013. When we are not farming, we can be found enjoying family time with our new baby boy and our 2 rescue dogs. We also love to travel and go on adventures, including our annual visit to the Iowa State Fair.

Support your local farmers.

In the U.S. alone, more than $13 billion worth of cut flowers are sold annually, and the majority — a whopping 82% — are imported.

We believe flowers are even more beautiful if you know where they came from and how they were grown. The local flower movement, much like the local food movement, encourages consumers to question the origins and impact of the flowers they purchase.

Buying local is good for the local environment, the local economy, and the people who grow and use them.
